Newer blog

Again, it has been well over a year since my last post, on here. I always had good intentions of keeping up with a blog and I just never do. I started a craft blog, several years ago, and I have not been able to find it and sign into it. I want to keep doing crafts and blogging about them. Anywho, I have my own domain, now. And once again, I will say that I'm going to try to keep up with it. You will be able to find us at www.birdysnest.org. Right now, I only have a few adoption posts up. I really do hope to keep up with it. Take care!

Happy New Year

It's now 2013. Happy New Year! The holidays are over and now we can concentrate on our house. I thought I posted the star light that we installed, but I guess it was only posted on Facebook. I decided to install it INside the house, in the entryway, rather than the porch. We're having the bench built, hopefully this next week. It's a gift from my mom. Thanks again, Mom! I can't wait to post the pix of it while it's being built and once it's done. So keep posted! For now, here are the pix of my star light (I love it!) and some other things.

Star light...
 Star bright...
We decided to go with these bar stools because they fit mostly under the counter when not in use.
We got a Welcome basket from the builder. =)
 Our first visitor.
Another Welcome To The Neighborhood treat! They were delish!
Beautiful Georgia sky right out our back door.
Housewarming gift from my mom. Thanks mom!
 Happy housewarming to me!
 More Welcome treats! Yummy!
 Late night visitors.

A Walking Stick on our house!

Yay! We closed on our house, today! Then we painted a wall in each of the kids' rooms. We let them pick their own color and, well, below is what they picked. I DO like them. Just glad we only did ONE wall in each room. LOL!

When we first saw this color on the wall, it was pretty gross. You can't tell in this pic but, the latte color was darker than the aqua color going on the wall. But it's what Ethan wanted, so we kept going.

Tony's showing how much he LOVES that color. Not! LOL
You know he's hard at work when his lower jaw sticks out. LOL
The light in the room was not doing this any justice. The paint dried darker and actually looked pretty good. The next photos are a 360º shot of the room.

Finally, a decent shot of the paint! Ethan's really happy with it, so I'm happy that he's happy!

Next up is Gabi's room. I DO like the color but, like I said before, SO GLAD we only did ONE wall!

The paint looks like Pepto Bismol. LOL

A VERY happy Gabi, painting her wall.

Here are the 360º shots of the room.

This is drying pretty dark. I'm happy that Gabi's happy.

Both kids helped with painting their rooms and I know they will appreciate it, more. When I was around their age, my mom asked me what color I wanted my room. I said orange. I can't believe they painted my room orange! I think that's pretty cool to let your kids decide. My room was painted orange on all 4 walls, though. I told the kids that in the future, we might paint the rest of their walls. But for now, this is all they're getting.

The outside of the house

I was so excited to get all of the pix of the inside of our house that I completely forgot to get them of the outside. So here they are. We're only a few days away from closing and I'm so excited!

Once we close, the fun begins. Adding character to our new home! One of my plans is changing the front door and porch light. Here are my ideas. I'll post these again when we actually get to this project.

Here's our front door.

Here is how I want our front door to look.

This is the exact door that I want, and we need to paint it black, of course. (and the doorknob would be on the other side, of course)

And the porch light. I have liked these lights since I first saw them but, just never figured we would have the style of house to put one of these up. I never thought of it being a porch light. I'm so in love with this look!

We had the final orientation on our house, today. The builder showed us how to use things like the sprinkler system-setting the timer, thermostat, main water shut off valve, and he showed us the different things we need to maintain. We're set to close on the 14th. So, here are the pix I took today. Through Pinterest, I found a blog that shows how to add character to a builder spec house. There are some great ideas and I will definitely blog on the things I do. But for now, here are the last of the pix of the house.

The Front door. We're putting a mudroom type setup on the cutout part of that wall. A bench and some hooks and shelf on the wall.
The garage door on the left and front door.
The guest/office/gaming room. We're going to put a library murphy bed on the left.
Looking into the living room from the G.O.G.
 Other corner of the G.O.G.
Living room. I want to get an electric fireplace that has bookshelves on the sides, and put it along that wall. The TV can either sit on top or be mounted on the wall.
Looking at the dining area from the entryway.
Right side of the master bedroom, looking from the bedroom door.
Left side of the master bedroom from the bathroom.
 Master bath
 Shower
The tub looks big, but it's not. At least not lengthwise.
 Double vanity
 Master closet
 Kitchen
pantry area. We'll put in more shelves.
 Laundry area.
 Pantry window.
Breakfast bar. I'm so excited that we have one of these!
Our fridge should be in around 20 Sep.
Gabi peeking out of the G.O.G.
 Kids bathroom
